"There are many other things I admire, most of all the care and thought that went into the support for all those programming languages. And of course the genius to have everything regex-based. UltraEdit had introduced "Perl compatible regular expressions" two major versions ago, but their implementation was somewhat inconsistent, and a few annoying bugs still haven't been fixed. So I guess from having used RegexBuddy I was a little spoiled by the JGsoft engine, so I always used to think "What if I had an editor that would actually support this regex?" - I keep wondering why it took me so long..."

"I've been using EditPad Classic for around five or six years now to make my web pages (using mainly HTML, XHTML, PHP, and CSS). I have always loved its robust search/replace which can handle all of my documents at once. The other night, I decided to see what was new with the project, and while I knew that EditPad had a new "Lite" and "Pro" version, I wasn't interested before because Classic worked so well for me. The trial version of EditPad Pro put me over the edge with its syntax highlighting, dictionary support, and the ridiculous amount of features packed into a relatively small overall package.

One of my favorite things about it is a really simple thing, probably not even considered a feature: The search field allows selection and pasting of blank lines in such a way that I can delete extra blank lines all in one fell swoop, which I haven't found with other HTML editors I've tried. It may not sound like much, but it really makes my life a lot easier, since I've edited a lot of fan fiction and original fiction files that had extra blank lines. "I came across your editor because I was looking for one with powerful syntax coloring capabilities. I use it at work to improve the readability of large debug log output files.

"I was using TextPad for this but it does not have much syntax coloring support. I tried jEdit. It is about as powerful as EditPad Pro concerning syntax coloring, but it is written in Java and is painfully slow when using complex coloring rules together with a large text file (and logging files tend to become pretty large!). So I was looking for a text editor which has powerful syntax coloring capabilities and is not written in Java - and I found EditPad Pro.

"I have a sad story to tell. I switched to OS X. My biggest hesitation was knowing I would lose my true love of a text editor, Editpad Pro. I can run it using Wine, or by running windows through parallels, and though I haven't entirely ruled out those options, it is less than ideal. There have been many difficulties in making the switch to OS X, but none compare to the loss of Editpad Pro. Though I kind of enjoy being Microsoft free, I really dislike being JGsoft free. You've created such a wonderful text editor with an excellent intuitive design and so many great features. Of the text editors I've tried under OS X, none of them come close to Editpad Pro. None of them. Unless my dreams come true and you sneakily release a new OS X (or Linux) version I must say Editpad Pro is going to be missed dearly. Aside from my dislike of OS X's Finder, Editpad Pro is what most tempts me to switch back to Windows. EPP, I will be sure to visit you from time to time and let you tickle my text in ways that only you have, but for now I'm very sad to say good-bye. You will be missed, but never forgotten."

"I am a big fan of EditPad Pro, and tell everyone I come in contact with that might need an industrial-strength text editor to get EditPad Pro. Most people look at me a bit strangely when they find I am so "up" on something so seemingly mundane as a text editor. When that happens, it is a sign either that they really do not do "heavy lifting" with text files, or they are too clueless to appreciate what EditPad Pro could do to make their work simpler and faster.

"I am not a true programmer, but do work with formatted-text data files, and from time to time need to look at some old Unix utility scripts in awk, sed, perl, and also some C and C++ code to try to figure out what they do, etc. The syntax coloring, Regular Expression search/replace, and Block Copy/Paste are so incredibly useful in my daily work. Also, I just noticed that EditPad Pro ver. 5.2.1 seems to "recognize" many more fixed-width fonts than the older version 4-series of EditPad Pro. This is nice to see.

"I looked at some other text editors for Windows, such as UltraEdit (it was too complex for what I had in mind) but EditPad Pro was the perfect balance between ease of use, with all the functionality that I needed.

"When I had access to Unix and VMS systems a few years back, we had at our disposal a text editor called NEdit. That text editor is the quintessence of text editors in my estimation. It is extremely speedy even with immense text files. For Windows use, EditPad Pro is practically the same as NEdit was in Unix and VMS.

Whats more - I'm a spastic quadriplegic - which means I'm wheelchair bound and also have very bad vision. I can only type with four fingers on my left hand, and my eyes have stigmatisms in both of them - which means that I have serious trouble using most word processors because nobody cares about giving users the ability to use a square cursor instead of that incredibly thin line, and under windows, you cant change the background and foreground colors without changing the entire color scheme for every application used by the operating system.

I'm not kidding when I say that I wept for joy when I realized that I could change the cursor to a full color square that DIDNT blink and compose anything I want in whatever font size I want with whatever color scheme I want. I can now write entire chapters in a few days, sometimes less than 48 hours, and I'm not kidding when I say that I use EditPad Pro to compose every important document i create - from letters, to emails, to full fictional manuscripts to blog entries for all the blogs I participate in... I no longer have to wear polarized sunglasses to use Microsoft Word because of their horrid bright white default background.. I just have to cut and paste my content from EditPad into word, save it in the format i want, and there's nothing else to worry about. The best part about editpad is that it doesn't try to be the most complicated application in the world - in fact it goes out of its way NOT to be. I cant begin to thank you enough for creating an alternative to all the other popular word processing applications that have all the intelligence in the world, but have yet to learn how to shut up and stay out of a writers way. The last thing I need when I'm trying to crank through a hundred pages of manuscript is to have to stop every five minutes and backtrack because autoformat just butchered an entire section of dialog that took me an hour to put together just the way i want it...
